On the east coast of Oahu, Hanauma Bay glistens like a jewel. The coral sits so close to the surface, and the beautiful fish are easily viewed while snorkeling.
While my friend Kelsey was in town, we headed over there and spent a morning in the water, snorkeling back and forth, looking at the fish and the coral.
The bay is so close to Waikiki that many people go snorkeling there while visiting Oahu (with good reason). It's a beautiful place to snorkel. And the surrounding scenery is lovely.
PS - Electric Beach might still be my favorite place to snorkel in terms of aquatic life viewed. But Hanauma Bay is definitely the whole package. Hanauma Bay has a crater and blue water and palm trees and a sand beach. Electric Beach has an electric power plant.
